Life lately

The last time I posted on this blog was in December 2021. So much life has happened in the 18 months between then and now, so I thought I’d catch you, dear reader, on what’s been happening! This has been probably the longest hiatus I’ve ever taken from the blog. In the past, I’ve taken breaks during cross-country moves and changing jobs, starting school, etc. But this time, the distraction that has taken me away for so long has been the greatest distraction I could ever think of. In September 2021, I gave birth to our daughter, Laurelin. Since then, everything has taken a backseat as I became a full-time mom and part-time everything else. I’m not going to lie, as a self-proclaimed “not-a-kid-person”, this transition wasn’t all sunshine and roses. But it has been so rewarding seeing Laurelin learn new things and experience life in general.

I have so much blogging to catch up on, especially in the travel front. We like to think of Laurelin as the most well-traveled toddler in the under 2 category. So far, she has taken 15 flights (4 international), gone to 3 different countries, and visited 10 states. None of them were documented on the blog, so I’ll need to play catch up in the coming months, as they were just the trips of our lifetime!

In the food section, I’ve transitioned in the past year from baking intricate delicacies to mastering baby/toddler friendly recipes. I have a very tough critic who truly will not eat something unless it’s absolutely perfection.

In our DIY/home front, not much has changed. DIY has slowed down significantly since welcoming our little girl. Before, we could both work on projects. But now, we take turns doing projects on Saturdays, so progress has been going at a glacial pace. But now that Laurelin is more independent, we’re forging ahead and aiming to wrap up our major projects (that are half finished) by the end of this year.

That’s basically it! Hope to see you back here a lot more often!

So tell me ...
