Technically, this is a DIY. Technically, if you have access to a laser engraver. Over winter break, my friend Joyce got hooked on Bananagrams. You know, the game that is essentially speed scrabble. She got so addicted to Bananagrams that when she went back to school, she made homemade Bananagrams out of paper and laminated them with tape.
I showed this picture to my boyfriend, and we came up with the idea of making Bananagrams for her out of wood using a laser engraver/cutter. Since Champaign-Urbana has a fab lab, it made life a whole lot easier! We used Inkscape to create the vector design for the scrabble letters and let the Epilog laser engraver do the rest of the work. The total laser engraving took roughly 25 minutes, and it was so much fun to watch.

Now I just need to find a banana-shaped pouch.
