Living Room Updates

I realized that I haven’t really blogged about our living room transformation much at all, besides the fireplace makeover. Since the holiday decorations are still here, I decided to take advantage while my living room still looks very cheery and post some updates.

The main thing that we got accomplished in the living room is the assembly and installation of the built-in bookshelves. We chose to use IKEA’s Sektion cabinets (they’re typically used in the kitchen) as the bottom of the bookcase. We also got Semihandmade DIY shaker doors and spray painted them white. We got this beautiful white oak butcher block countertop from Lumber Liquidators that we’re excited to install on top. Then we’ll do a built-in shelving unit on top! It’s going to look really spectacular!

The one thing that’s going to change a lot in this living room is our new couch from West Elm. I ordered it back in August, but due to Covid delays, it’s still not here! But it’s okay, currently we just have our sectional (also West Elm) in the living room. Eventually we’re going to move the sectional downstairs, where we’re planning on building a home theater.

I have a lot of projects on the docket for this month, but I expect next month to be when I really aim to complete this room, and I’m stoked!

  1. Hi Annie,
I love your fireplace and bookshelf makeover!
I saw that you purchased the cabinets from IKEA. Would you mind sharing the link?

Excited to see what else you do.
